Million dollar credit union fraud trial to start soon

A Belleville, Ont. woman and two men will soon face trial charged with the theft of more than $1 million from Bayshore Credit Union, now part of Quinte First Credit Union.

In May 2016, Belleville police charged Cheryll Drumm, 46, with theft over $5,000, money laundering and breach of trust. Drumm had been a manager with Bayshore Credit Union.

George Misuraca, 54, is charged with breach of trust, fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000. Allan William Lasher, 52, is charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000. The next court date is set for next week, local media said.

Belleville police were contacted by the credit union in October 2015 with a complaint regarding the actions of a former employee. An investigation led police to conclude more than $1 million had been stolen between January 2010 and June 2015.

In January 2017 Quinte First Credit Union Limited was formed through the amalgamation of Bayshore Credit Union Ltd. and QuintEssential Credit Union Limited.
